On the weekend of September 4, 5, and 6, Maratea will host the seventeenth stop of *Borgo diVino in tour*, a traveling food and wine festival visiting the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” (*I Borghi più belli d’Italia*).

*Borgo diVino in tour* arrives in Maratea for the first time; it is a series of events promoted by the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” Association and organized by Valica S.p.A., a leading marketing technology company specializing in tourism and gastronomy. The event is supported by official sponsors SumUp and Mastercard.

The Maratea event marks the seventeenth of 25 stops on a national tour within the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” network, covering every Italian region as well as the historic center of San Marino—the Association’s designated International Guest Village.

It will be three days dedicated to taste and beauty, allowing wine lovers to discover wines, hear stories from producers, and savor local culinary specialties in a village suspended between sky and sea. Over 100 labels will be available for tasting, featuring a selection of wineries from Basilicata and other regions such as Calabria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Veneto, Piedmont, Marche, Tuscany, and beyond.

Accompanying the tastings will be local culinary specialties prepared for takeaway by area restaurateurs, including Lucanian cannoli (featuring *crusco* pepper filled with whipped salt cod, potatoes, and caramelized onion), *paccheri* pasta with musky octopus, *cavatelli ammullicati* (pasta with toasted breadcrumbs), Agrigento-style caponata, traditional desserts, and more. The initiative is part of the promotional activities of MIB (Mercato Italiano dei Borghi)—a project by the “I Borghi più belli d’Italia” (The Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) association, in institutional cooperation with BMTI (Borsa Merci Telematica Italiana)—aimed at showcasing the traditional products of the member villages and fostering socio-economic benefits for local communities.

Music will also play a key role, with performances filling the three evenings to create an even more enchanting atmosphere.

How it works

The event will take place in the historic center of Maratea, starting at Piazza Buraglia, in an area with free admission. It will run on Friday, September 4, Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, from 6:00 PM to midnight.

Visitors will find a tasting trail featuring dedicated winery stands, an educational section on the world of wine, and a food area. For wine tastings, visitors can purchase a €20 voucher that includes eight wine samples; a kit containing a glass and a carrying pouch will also be provided.
