MARATEA IN SCENA - AUGUST EVENTS
Throughout the month of August, Maratea will come alive with a vibrant programme of events celebrating art, music, culture, and local traditions, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the authentic spirit of the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian.”
Highlights of the programme include the Maratea Jazz Festival, a special performance of Giacomo Puccini’s La Bohème in the breathtaking setting of Pietra del Sole, open-air performances from the balconies overlooking Piazza Buraglia, and an evening of comedy with Francesco Paolantoni at Teatro Salotto.
The cultural programme also features the Maratea Yellow Book Marine festival, alongside talks and meetings with distinguished Italian and international authors and cultural figures, including Antonio Monda and Don Marcello Cozzi.
Maratea’s traditional Ferragosto celebrations will once again take centre stage, with the spectacular Bell Tower Fire (Incendio del Campanile) on the night of 14 August, followed by the evocative Concert at Dawn (Concerto dell’Aurora). The month will conclude with a special performance at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, where music, breathtaking scenery, and spirituality come together in one of the Mediterranean’s most remarkable settings.
